# Risk Review Settings

Decide how often your organisation reviews risks at each level. RTOSafe uses these limits whenever someone sets a risk's next review date, so higher risks come back for review sooner.

***

## Before You Start

You'll need access to Risks to open these settings, and Read/Write access to Risks to change them.

***

## Set How Often to Review

Go to [**Settings → Risk Register**](https://app.rtosafe.com.au/RiskRegisterSettings). Under **How often to review**, set the number of months for each level.

Unless you change them, `Critical` risks are reviewed at least every month, `High` every 3 months, `Medium` every 6 months and `Low` every 12 months.

These set the latest next review date for a risk at that level. People can always choose an earlier date.

If a shorter interval would leave some risks due for review too late, the save button tells you how many, for example **Save and flag 3 risks**. Saving flags those risks for reassessment.

***

## Switch to the New Risk Matrix

If your organisation is still on the original risk matrix, you'll see **An updated risk matrix is available** on the register. The new matrix rates high-impact risks higher.

Select **Review the change**, or scroll to **New Risk Matrix** in Risk Register settings. RTOSafe shows which ratings would change level and how many risks it would flag for reassessment.

Select **Switch to the new matrix** when you're ready. You can't switch back.

***

## What Happens Next

Flagged risks show **Needs reassessment** on the register. [Record a new assessment](/help/risk-register-controls#record-an-assessment) for each one.

Your organisation is already using the new matrix, so there's nothing to switch.
